Following my involvement in bereavement support in a voluntary capacity over fifteen years I trained as a counsellor and psychotherapist and obtained a B.A degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the Institute of Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I also completed further training in Choice Theory and Reality Therapy and Solution Focused Brief Therapy. I am an accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and abide by their code of ethics. Through continuous professional development and training I strive to promote and maintain standards of excellence in counselling and psychotherapy.
I employ a person-centered and integrated approach to the counselling process which values the unique nature of each person and their capacity to make choices and develop to their full potential. This is done in a secure and non-judgement environment.
I have been working for the past number of years in the Village Counselling Service Centre in Tallaght. I also see clients in a private practice in Ranelagh, Dublin 6 and in The Counselling Centre, Firhouse, Dublin 24 and am available to student counsellors for personal therapy.
Prior to providing counselling services I was involved for twenty years in offering high end interior options to architects and interior designers at the design stage of construction. Due to the recession my business was adversely affected and I viewed first-hand the detrimental effect the recession had on colleagues and business associates.
My counselling and psychotherapy studies has enabled me to better understand the emotional and damaging effects, often underestimated, that the loss of profession or self-esteem can have on an individual.
